Welcome to Van Meter United Methodist Kids Care

Kids Care is a not-for-profit DHS licensed childcare center for elementary-age students.

It is an outreach ministry of the Van Meter United Methodist Church to Van Meter and surrounding communities.

It is our purpose to provide quality before and after school child care to elementary children. We will help develop character-building traits such as respect, responsibility, and charity to others through organized activities, including Bible stories, devotions, and prayer.

Our activities will foster an awareness of Christ, such as actions and attitudes in our response to others and self. We will strive to create an atmosphere where the connections between faith and life can be made.

We operate a facility to meet the needs of children in compliance with the law of the State of Iowa.

• During the school year, Kids Care is open from 6:30 AM until 5:45 PM.
• For children ages 4-5 attending AM or PM preschool at Van Meter Elementary, we offer wrap-around care; transportation is included using our passenger van.
• TK-5 transportation to/from school: The school provides bus transportation. Pick-up is at approximately 7:50 AM and drop-off at approximately 3:15 PM.
• We are closed on all major holidays: part of Christmas break, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & the day after, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
• Un-scheduled early dismissal / late start days from school: Child care will be provided for an additional fee.
• In-service days, spring break: Child care will be available.
• If the school is closed due to weather, Kids Care will also be closed.
• Summer Hours: 7:00 AM - 5:45 PM

• Registration fee:  $25 (non-refundable) 
• TK-5 Morning care only:  $48/week  
• TK-5 Afternoon care only:  $65/week  
• TK-5 Both A.M. and P.M. care:  $95/week
• Pre-K:  $175/ week
